FE1 - First French edition
Publisher: | E. Troupenas et Cie |
Date: | V 1840 |
Plate number: | T. 891 |
Title: | Sonate || Scherzo |
Dedication: | None |
The first known impression of FE whose copy was deposited by the editor in the Library of the Conservatoire de Paris as an obligatory deposit. No title page and a significant number of mistakes (several dozen – cf. the 1st mov.) suggest it was one of the trial copies, still before proofreadings. In this movement the most serious mistakes include:
- a instead of b in bar 34;
- e1 instead of f1 in the 2nd quaver in bar 39;
- no B on the 3rd beat in bar 90;
- erroneous in the last chord in the L.H. in bar 111;
- C instead of D in bar 137;
- no indications of trills in bar 178 and 180;
- a1 instead of b1 in the 2nd chord in bar 179;
- f1 instead of d1 in the 5th chord in bar 194;
- octave instead of sixth at the beginning of bar 198;
- c instead of B in the last chord in bar 254;
- no C at the beginning of bar 264.
FE1 was based on the same autograph by Chopin, which previously was the basis of GC.
