b. 37

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

No sign in GC & FE

 in EE

 in GE

..

Lack of the  sign in GC and FE is undoubtedly an oversight of Chopin. The sign in EE most probably reflects the Chopin entry in the base text to this edition – if it had been added by the reviser, he would have probably placed the  closer to the end of the bar, such as in analogous bar 19 (this is what the reviser of GE did). The evaluation of the position of the sign by the engraver of EE could have been erroneous, therefore, in the main text we give the sign in accordance with analogous bar 19.

No fingering digit in GC (→GE)

'1' in FE & EE

..

Lack of the fingering numeral over the 6th semiquaver in GC (→GE) is a result of a patent oversight of the copyist.

b. 39

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

..

The notation of FE and EE does not include any accidentals in this bar. In GC (→GE1) there is a  before f2 in the 3rd group of semiquavers. In GE2 (→GE3) naturals before e2 and g2 in the 1st group were also added, a  before f2 in the 2nd group, naturals before b1 at the beginning of the 3rd group and before e3 in the 4th group and a  before e1 in the L.H. In the main text we include the  before e2, the 4th semiquaver of the bar.

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

..

There is no accidental before the penultimate semiquaver in GC (→GE1), FE and EE. The missing  returning d3 is undoubtedly an oversight of Chopin, corrected in GE2 (→GE3).

Combined suggestion by the editors

..

The fingering versions of GC (→GE) and FE complement each other (and they generally overlap). In turn, the version of EE1 (→EE2) is most probably incomplete and erroneous.
