Lack of the 
sign in GC and FE is undoubtedly an oversight of Chopin. The sign in EE most probably reflects the Chopin entry in the base text to this edition – if it had been added by the reviser, he would have probably placed the closer to the end of the bar, such as in analogous bar 19 (this is what the reviser of GE did). The evaluation of the position of the sign by the engraver of EE could have been erroneous, therefore, in the main text we give the sign in accordance with analogous bar 19.
