The three-note chord in FE is the original version, which is proved by the visible deletion of the b1 note in GC. At the time of introducing this correction, Chopin did not check the notation of the accidentals – the overlooked on the 2nd beat of the bar was added only in GE. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Errors resulting from corrections , GE revisions , Authentic corrections in GC |

In the main text we give a long accent after FE. An accent – short – is also in EE, which means that the sign was most probably added by Chopin in the base texts to these editions or that the copyist accidentally omitted it. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Long accents |

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

The missing c1 note in FE – provided that it is not an error of the engraver – seems to be the original version, cf. bar 47. Lack of traces of its deletion reduces the likelihood of removing this note by Chopin almost to none. The note was removed – under the influence of FE – in EE2, in order to be reintroduced in EE3, this time on the basis of GE. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions |
