In the third line of Cadenza the sources show a number of differences in the presence of accidentals. They do not cause any text doubts, therefore, we signalise them altogether. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Errors in FE , FE revisions |

The lack of the indication diminuendo in FE2 is probably a result of an oversight. In the main text we give the more precise indication of FE1 (→EE). Cf. bars 55-58 and 63-66. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in FE |

The indication a piacere appears only in GE and EE2. It was probably an enhancement introduced by Chopin into [A2]. In EE2 it was certainly added on the basis of comparison with GE. category imprint: Differences between sources |

It is unclear how the abbreviation leggier. in FE and GE should be developed. In EE there is an indication leggiero, however, it is hard to suppose that Chopin would shorten a word by one letter. It is also highly unlikely that the last letter was omitted due to an incorrect reading of the manuscript by FE and GE, as the editions were based on different autographs. In the main text we propose leggierissimo, taking into account the probably later notation of Cadenza in small notes. category imprint: Differences between sources |

We propose to add the mark, as it cannot be excluded that Chopin omitted it incidentally. category imprint: Editorial revisions issues: No pedal release mark |
