Publisher: | Wessel & Co |
Date: | 20 IV 1836 |
Title: | Souvenir de la Pologne, | 4e. Recueil de Quatre Mazurkas, | No. 2 |
Dedication: | Monsieur le Comte de Perthuis |
In EE1, the text of FE1 was reproduced with a number of inaccuracies (such as the omission of dolce w bar 21 or staccato dots in bar 33 or 46) and with certain changes and additions (e.g. in graphic layout), sometimes made on the basis of comparing analogous places (e.g. added dots in bar 63 and bar 69). In some situations, it is not obvious whether the versions of EE1 result from the engraver's inaccurate rendition of the text or from revisions (for instance the omission of dots in bars 21-24). Chopin did not participate in the preparation of that edition.
EE1 has most of the typical features of Wessel's publications: notation of grace notes and minims or an arbitrarily added title.
