b. 261-263

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

cresc. - - in A

cresc. in GE & EE2 (→EE3)

No indication in FE (→EE1)

..

We give the cresc. marking, together with the dashes marking its range, after A (see also bars 263-264). In GE the marking was put slightly further and the dashes were overlooked, whereas FE (→EE1) does not have it at all. The absence of the indication in FE could be explained by a mistake of that edition or by a repetition of the original error of GE1, which was corrected in GE1 only in the last phase of proofreading. The indication was added in EE2 (→EE3) on the basis of comparison with GE1.

b. 261-264

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

2 two-bar slurs in A

4 one-bar slurs in GE1 (→FEEE)

1 four-bar slur in GE2

..

In the main text we give the unquestionable two-bar long slurs of A. Both the division of the slurs in GE1 (→FEEE) and their combination in GE2 must be arbitrary changes – a typical manner of the engraver of GE1 and a revision (without any apparent reason) of GE2

b. 261-262

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

2 slurs in FE

3 slurs in GE

2 slurs in EE

Slur suggested by the editors

..

The version of FE seems to be a result of a misunderstanding at the time of interpreting [A], in which possible corrections (combined slurs?) could have impeded figuring out Chopin's intention. The versions of GE and EE must be arbitrary revisions of this most probably inaccurate notation. The notation suggested in the main text, modelled after the previous element of the progression, is practically tantamount to the notation of FE.

b. 261

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

Slur from 1st quaver in FE (→EE,GE1GE2)

Slur from 2nd quaver in GE3

..

A later beginning of the slur in GE3 is an arbitrary revision, introduced most probably on the basis of the inaccurate beginning of the slur of GE in bar 263.

b. 261-264

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

2 lower slurs in FE (→EE)

No lower slurs in GE

..

The absence of the bottom slurs in GE most probably means that they were added by Chopin in the last proofreading of FE (→EE).
