b. 235

composition: Op. 16, Rondo in E♭ major

Hairpin in FE (→GE) & EE3

No mark in EE1 (→EE2)

..

The missing  hairpin in EE1 (→EE2) is a mistake of the engraver. The mark was added only just by the reviser of EE3.

b. 235

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III

No mark in FE (→EE)

Staccato dot in GE

..

The missing differentiation of this bass note (with a staccato dot) is most probably an oversight – cf. all remaining bass notes in this section. Two bars earlier, a respective note is actually provided with a crotchet stem, yet we consider it to be a mistake.

b. 235-238

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

No signs in A (→FCGE1, →FEEE)

 in GE2 (→GE3)

..

Two two-bar  hairpins were repeated in GE2 (→GE3) after the authentic marks in b. 103-106.
There is a similar situation in b. 686-689.

b. 235-236

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

No markings in A (→FEEE)

Two-bar pedalling in FC (→GE1)

One-bar pedalling in GE2 (→GE3)

..

One pedal added by Chopin in these bars in FC (→GE1) is most probably a mistake of the composer. Chopin, being in haste, could have been influenced by previous six bars, in which two-bar pedalling complies with the harmonic content of the L.H. figurations. Therefore, in the main text we suggest two one-bar pedals marked by Chopin in analogous b. 103-104 both in FC (→GE) and FE (→EE). Such a pedalling was also introduced in GE2 (→GE3). A similar situation can be found in b. 686-687.

b. 235-236

composition: Op. 22, Polonaise

..

In the main text we omit the cautionary  before a, the 4th L.H. quaver in b. 235, present in all sources. In turn, we add a  before g1 at the beginning of b. 236.
