In A Chopin omitted the naturals to the 2nd and 3rd L.H. quavers (a1 and A); on the other hand, he wrote unnecessarily repeated naturals to a2 on the 3rd quaver and to e2 on the 7th R.H. quaver. In GE (→FE,EE,IE) the omitted accidentals were added and the unnecessary ones removed, which we include in the main text. Moreover, in the editions cautionary flats were added to B category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: Accidentals in different octaves , GE revisions , Cautionary accidentals , Inaccuracies in A |

The entry in FES is certainly made with Chopin's hand. The addition in FEJ is slightly less characteristic, yet it most probably also comes from Chopin. In spite of that, according to us, the change of the dynamics of the ending is to be considered to be an authentic variant and not a definitive withdrawal from the original concept. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Annotations in teaching copies , Annotations in FES , Authentic post-publication changes and variants , Annotations in FEJ |
