We consider both accents of A, although differing in shape, to be long accents due to their size (cf., e.g. the clearly smaller mark in b. 173). FE reproduced the accents as short (GE and EE did it in an even more pronounced manner). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Long accents , Inaccuracies in FE |

In AsI both chords on the 2nd and 3rd quavers in b. 166 are written down in the treble clef, and in both Chopin wrote the bottom note under a ledger line. The mistake was committed in both versions of this bar as well as on the 2nd quaver in b. 167 in 1. volta. At the same time, in the notation of the first of the five discussed chords (2nd quaver in b. 166, 1. volta), there are only two ledger lines, hence the lowest note is g, whereas in the four remaining ones – three ledger lines, which results in e category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources |

In the case of such a small element as an augmentation dot, put in an atypical place, a double, independent oversight cannot be completely ruled out. However, it seems more likely that Chopin added this dot in the last stage of proofreading FE, after the copies serving as the bases for GE and EE had been sent. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in EE , Errors in GE , Authentic corrections of FE |
