b. 222-223

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

..

Three naturals are missing in A – before the 3rd quaver in bar 222 (d1) and 223 (e1) and before the bottom note of the 3rd octave in bar 222. These patent inaccuracies were corrected in GE (→FEEE). Similar defects are present also in the next bars.

Continuous slur in A

2 slurs in GE (→FEEE)

..

Breaking the slur – contrary to the unmistakable notation of A – is an inaccuracy of the engraver of GE1, who did not take care of an appropriate extension of the slur at the end of the line (in bar 222) and an earlier start at the beginning of the next one (in bar 223).

b. 222

composition: Op. 16, Rondo in E♭ major

..

In FE (→GE,EE), there is a  before the 6th semiquaver. A comparison with four analogous bars (54, 62, 78 and 362) proves a mistake of the engraver in this place.

Dotted rhythm in FE (→EE)

Quavers in GE

..

The version of GE is probably an authentic original version, corrected by Chopin in FE (→EE) during last retouches. It is indicated by the layout of notes in FE, corresponding to the rhythm of GE and not FE, which may mean that the extending dot of cand the semiquaver beam next to dwere added only just in print. Such rhythmic variations are frequent in Chopin's works, cf. e.g. the Polonaise in C minor, op. 26, no. 1, bar 61 or the Prelude in C minor, op. 45, bars 67 and 71.

b. 222

composition: Op. 16, Rondo in E♭ major

..

In GE, bar 222 opens a new great stave, resulting in an inaccurate slurring – a new slur begins on the 1st note, although the extended ending of the slur in the previous bar clearly points to its continuation.
