b. 6

composition: Op. 24 No. 4, Mazurka in B♭ minor

..

In this place, the staccato sign has the form of a short, thin line, differing from the usual dots.  Comparison with analogous places (bars 8, 14, 18 and similar) suggests inaccurate notation of A (uncontrolled hand movement). The same remarks apply to the signs in bars 16 and 23 on the same page.

b. 6-7

composition: Op. 24 No. 3, Mazurka in A♭ major

..

In A (→GEFEEE) the slurs begins from a flat1 in bar 6 and we rely on that logical notation in our main text. In AI the beginning of that slur is unclear  - the beginning is bar 6 is missing.

b. 6

 in A

 in GE (→FEEE)

..

In AI the  mark is placed before the rest on the 3rd beat, and in A at the end of the bar. Although the notation of A leaves no doubt as to Chopin's intention GE (→FEEE) printed earlier, under the rest on the 3rd beat (Cf. note to bar 2). In our main text we rely on A, however, in the editors' opinion the pedalling of both autographs may be regarded here as alternative.

b. 6-7

composition: Op. 24 No. 3, Mazurka in A♭ major

No in AI

in A (literal reading) and GE1 (→FEEE)

in A (contextual interpretation) and GE2

..

In A (→GE1FEEE),  is written at the beginning of bar 7. In A this bar is the first in a new line, and the mark is placed distinctly before the first notes. Account taken of the phrasing, such a placement of the mark suggests it being effective from the last quaver of bar 6. This interpretation is confirmed by the notation of A in the analogous bar 30. Therefore we give in bar 6 in the main text, as already did GE2.

In AI is absent from bar 6-7 altogether.

b. 6-10

composition: Op. 24 No. 3, Mazurka in A♭ major

Hairpin in AI

No sign in A (→GEFEEE)

..

Chopin marked the dynamic emphasis on the highest note in bars 6 & 10 with a sign  in AI, and with a marking  in A (→GEFEEE). Both markings may be regarded as complimentary, but with the ultimate rhythm of the 1st beat combining them does not seem purposeful. The same applies to bars 30 and 34.
