b. 85-89

composition: Op. 23, Ballade in G minor

..

In A, Chopin overlooked the flats lowering a to a in b. 85 and 89 and the  lowering a1 to a1 in b. 89. The inaccurate notation was repeated unchanged by FE (→EE1), while in b. 85 also by EE2. The versions of the remaining editions are correct (GE and EE3).

b. 93

composition: Op. 23, Ballade in G minor

..

In A, there is no  raising e1 to e1. The patent inaccuracy was corrected by FE (→GE,EE). It is noteworthy that in A the  to the 4th quaver, e3, was inserted between the already written down noteheads.

b. 95-102

composition: Op. 23, Ballade in G minor

..

A left out a few naturals to e notes (in various octaves) in b. 95-96 and 99-102. The patent inaccuracies were corrected in the subsequent editions; the fully correct version is included only in GE and EE3.

b. 99

composition: Op. 23, Ballade in G minor

e1-a1-c2 in A

a1-c2 in FE (→GE,EE)

..

The bottom notes of the bottom voice crotchets, written down in A, were removed in the stage of proofreading FE (→GE,EE), certainly by Chopin. In an analogous situation in b. 199 Chopin had already crossed out the bottom notes of the chords in A, hence the change introduced while proofreading FE may be considered rectification of an oversight of the respective correction in the stage of writing A.

b. 100

composition: Op. 23, Ballade in G minor

c1 in A (→FEEE1EE2)

d1 in GE & EE3

..

The version of GE most probably resulted from revisions – due to the beginning of this motif being similar to the previous figures, authentic c1 was considered a mistake. This version was also introduced by EE3, most probably on the basis of one of GE. By coincidence, a few years later such a mistake – c1 minim instead of d1 in a similar harmonic context – was actually committed in FE1 of the Ballade in F major, Op. 38, b. 203.
