Title: Polonaise
Dedication: Madame la Princesse Charles de Beauvau née de Komar

Second German edition, introducing far-reaching changes, inconsistent with Chopin's usual practice, in the graphic layout of the text, e.g.:

  • changes to the arrangement of L.H. beams in b. 9-15 and similarly,
  • placing the lowest R.H. notes on the upper staff in b. 17-18, 24-26 and analogously, as well as b. 79-82, 250, 258, 261-264.

Other arbitrary changes include:

  • adding articulation markings below the L.H. part, e.g. slurs in b. 1-4, 250-252, 258-263, slurs and staccato dots in b. 24-2683-102111-126,
  • separating a c2 crotchet from the chord at the beginning of b. 43, 69 and analogously.

Moreover, some defects were corrected, and other justifiable amendments introduced:

  • a demisemiquaver was changed to semiquaver in b. 33,
  • a most probably inaccurate slur was extended in b. 162-163,
  • a cautionary before b2 was added in b. 183,
  • most probably overlooked slurs were added in b. 325-326.

New errors were also committed, e.g. the accompanying R.H. voice was overlooked on the first beat of b. 70.
