b. 621-622

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor
..
The missing must be an inaccuracy of notation, since corresponding marks – or – are in all 11 analogous places. On the basis of an analysis of those marks (see b. 6-7), in the main text we give an averaged, more or less one-bar hairpin. According to us, all signs, regardless of their actual length, are to be interpreted as long accents. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: GE revisions |

In FED one can see two diagonal lines, written with a flourish. Their significance remains a mystery, although one of them could be interpreted as a mark emphasising the meaningful coherence of the chords in these bars. category imprint: Source & stylistic information |

b. 629-631
|
composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor
..
According to us, the differences in the range of the hairpin are accidental inaccuracies in the reproduction of the notation of A. In the main text we preserve the mark inserted by Chopin's hand, although its starting point cannot be clearly related to the other elements of notation, which was probably the reason for discrepancies in the remaining sources. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , Scope of dynamic hairpins , Inaccuracies in FC |

b. 630-632
|
composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor
..
Just like in b. 179-181, in the main text we add cautionary flats before the E1 and E grace notes in b. 630 and before the D1-D octave in b. 632. The accidentals in b. 630 were added already in GE, whereas those in b. 632 – in GE2 (→GE3). category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: GE revisions |
