FE is missing a natural before the penultimate note in the bar; however, the accidental is present before the previous semiquaver, d3. Therefore, it can be likely that the engraver put an accidental before the wrong note, although Chopin would also occasionally write accidentals in such an illogical manner. In GE, the  was moved to before c3, whereas EE added the necessary  without removing the one from before d3

FE is lacking in a  lowering d4 to d4. The inaccuracy, most probably repeated after [A], was corrected in the remaining editions.

FE is missing a  lowering g1 to g1. The context of the preceding G major scale points to Chopin's oversight, one of a few in this and the next few bars. The accidental was added both in GE and EE. The fact that Chopin heard g1 in the last triplet is supported by bar 265, in which the same motif is used, written in all sources with a  before the respective note.

Fingering written into FEH

No fingering in FE (→GE)

Fontana's fingering in EE

..

The fingerings of FEH and EE differ either only in the finger on b1 (the 5th finger on c2 may be used both after the 4th and the 1st finger) or also in their further course (after the 1st finger on b1, the following c2 may be played with, e.g. the 3rd finger). The fingering of FEH was entered twice – in bars 264 and 266.

b. 265-267

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III

..

In FE, there are no accidentals before the 7th semiquaver in bars 265 and 267 and before the 8th semiquaver in bar 266. Chopin's oversight of the naturals restoring a1 is obvious both in bars 265 and 267 (A minor chord in the L.H.) and in bar 266 (correctly written, identical bar 264). In all remaining editions, some or all missing naturals were added:

  • GE1 (→GE2) added accidentals in bars 265 and 267,
  • EE1 added a  in bar 266,
  • EE2 (→EE3) and GE3 contain the correct text.
