b. 525

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

Crotchet a in FE (→EE)

Quaver a in GE

..

The missing crotchet stem extending the a quaver is most probably an oversight of the engraver of GE.

b. 526-528

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

Pedalling in bar 526 & 528 in FE (→EE)

No markings in bar 528 in GE

Our variant suggestion

..

Missing pedalling indications in bar 528 (as well as in 529) in GE may mean that Chopin added them only just in the last proofreading of FE. In spite of that, the pedalling of FE (→EE) raises doubts – in all three analogous places (bars 155-157, 171-173 and 510-512), pedal depressed at the beginning of the theme is held incessantly to the closest harmonic change. Therefore, in the main text we suggest a variant solution, in which, if we include the markings in brackets, we obtain the actual pedalling of FE and if we omit them – the authentic pedalling of the analogous phrase in exposition (bars 171-173).

b. 527

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

..

In GE3, the chords in the L.H. are written in this bar in an abbreviated manner as a minim with quaver tremolo.

b. 528-529

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

No slurs in FE

2 slurs in GE

Slur in EE

2 slurs in GE

..

In the main text, we add slurs after comparison with analogous bars 173-174 as well as 157-158 and 512-513. Slurs were added already in GE and EE; in GE, the authentic slur in bar 173 was included, which resulted in the solution suggested by us; in EE, the entire ending of the phrase was encompassed with one slur.
