..

In Atut (→FE), there is no  lowering f2 to f2. This patent inaccuracy was corrected in the remaining editions.

Slur from f2 in Atut & GE3

Slur from b1 in FE (→GE1GE2

Slur from c2 in EE

..

The slur in FE (→GE1GE2) was written carelessly – the beginning of the slur is placed at the pitch of the top voice, but it falls over the 2nd quaver in the bar. We assume the most straightforward interpretation, from the bquaver, to be the text of those editions. The version was revised both in EE and GE3; in the latter, in accordance with Atut

No marking in FE (→GE,EE)

at the beginning of the bar was written in Atut in place of the previous . The absence of a marking in FE (→GE,EE) means that the engraver of FE probably did not understand this correction, considering the  mark written in bold font to be a deletion of . In the main text, we preserve the version of Atut, in which Chopin reviewed and corrected the dynamic markings – cf. e.g. bar 20 and 32

Staccato dots in Atut & GE3

Slur in FE (→EE,GE1GE2)

..

The notation of Atut may be misleading – there is a delicate trace of ink caused by the quill's transfer between the staccato dots, which the engraver of FE considered a slur. The revision in GE3 was most probably performed on the basis of analogy with the following bars.

b. 39-40

d2-d2 in Atut

c2-b1 in FE (→GE,EE)

..

The version of FEpiano (→GE,EE), closer to the orchestral part written in FEorch, was introduced by Chopin in the proofreading of FE in place of the original version of Atut. See also bar 42.
