Slurs

b. 37

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

A tie sustaining c sharp2 in A (→GE) and FEFr

No tie in FE (→EE)

..

The tie sustaining c sharp2 was probably omitted in FE (→EE) by the engraver. It was added again in FEFr.

issues: Errors in FE , Annotations in FEFr

b. 38-39

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

..

The slur beginning at the end of bar 38 is inaccurately printed in GE1 (→FEEE): its beginning can be seen in bar 38 at the end of the system, but its ending in bar 39 is missing.

issues: Inaccuracies in GE

b. 39

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

A slur in A (→GE)

No slur in  FE (→EE)

..

Absence of a slur in FE (→EE) is certainly due to oversight.

issues: Errors in FE

b. 41

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

No slur in A (→GEFE)

A slur added in EE

..

In EE, a slur was arbitrarily added in the first half of the bar for the upper voice. The addition makes musical sense, yet there are no grounds to consider it authentic.

b. 43

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

The beginning of the slur in A (contextual reading)

GE (→FEEE)

..

When read literally, the slur in A begins from the second semiquaver. However, it is almost sure that Chopin had in mind the same slur as the one in bar 42.

issues: Inaccurate slurs in A
