Pedalling of bars 74-77 in A

 added in GE1

 added in FE

 added in EE

 moved in #FE2

We give the pedalling of A (one pedal from bar 74 to the end). In GE1 (→FEEE) a release mark  was added at the end of bar 74; it is very unlikely that the addition was made at the composer's request, as endings without  are very typical for Chopin's notation. However, another  sign in FE (→EE) may be regarded as very likely added by Chopin himself. In our opinion, that addition was not meant to change the concept, as the sound effects of pedalling in A and FE are very similar, but to restore the proper effect once the unnecessary   had been added in GE1 (the printing technique of the day made it easier to add a mark than to remove it). The series of pedalling additions ends on EE, in which   was arbitrarily added in bar 77. In GE2 was moved from bar 74 to the end of bar 77, which definitely mitigated the effects of ill-considered interference of the reviewer of GE1.
