FED - Dubois copy
Publisher: | Maurice Schlesinger |
Date: | 1843-1848 |
Plate number: | M.S. 1926 |
Title: | Grande polonaise brillante précédée d'un Andante spianato |
Dedication: | Madame d'Est |
A copy from a collection belonging to Chopin's pupil, Camille O'Méara-Dubois. It is lacking in the sheet containing pages 17-18, as a result of which the use of the copy is difficult, yet not impossible, since these pages are identical to pages 9-10 – see the characterisation of FE1. Consequently, in mUltimate Chopin we present the latter also as pages 17-18.
FED contains a few pencilled annotations coming from Chopin, including some most probably written by his hand. Almost all of them concern the fingering – b. 86, 91-95, 97-98, 101-102, 135 and 153-154. Other annotations comprise an accent added in b. 51 and a synchronisation mark, often found in the collection of Ms Dubois, indicating that the grace notes are to be performed simultaneously with the bass note in b. 55 (as well as – due to the defect described above – in b. 199).
