a2 in A (→GE)

d2-a2 in FE (→EE)

..

A more accurate specification of the unexpected Bchord in the solo part already at the beginning of the bar must be a Chopinesque improvement introduced in the proofreading of FE (→EE). It is already a second change in this bar with respect to the earliest preserved version, after the rhythmic diversification – see the adjacent note

Accent above staff in A

Accent under staff in GE (→FEEE)

..

Chopin's intention concerning the placement of the accent is uncertain. The change of its position in GE (→FEEE) is almost certainly of a random nature, since in the version of A (→GE), in which there is a sole aat the beginning of the bar, it does not influence the meaning of this sign. After adding the d2 note in FE (→EE), the position of the accent may suggest accenting the bottom or top note of the d2-afifth. In the main text we give an accent in the place where Chopin saw it while proofreading FE.

Slur from 2nd beat in A

2 slurs in GE

2 slurs in FE (→EE)

Slur from first beat suggested by the editors

..

In the main text we give an extended slur – probably by Chopin together with adding the dnote at the beginning of the bar – in the proofreading of FE (→EE). In turn, we omit the triplet slur added in GE (→FEEE) – cf. General Editorial Principlesp. 16.
