b. 69

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt II

Semiquavers in FES (literal reading)

Quaver triplet in FES (possible interpretation)

..

On the 2nd beat of the bar FES has a quaver and two semiquavers in the added accompaniment. Due to the hasty and partially sketchy notation, it is uncertain whether the line in the place of the semiquaver beam is to be interpreted as an actual beam.

b. 71

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt II

Minim without slur in A

Minim with slur in GE

Semibreve with slur in FE (→EE)

..

It is difficult to state whether the notation of A is a result of a mistake or a kind of a compromise suggesting, on the one hand, a long fading out of this third and, on the other hand, a lack of need to actually sustain it with fingers (thanks to pedalling). In the main text we include later changes of GE1 (an added slur) and FE (the minim changed to a semibreve), both probably authentic.

In GE2 the minim third of flutes was placed after the trilled note of the piano, as if it were to be played only in the middle of the bar, which is certainly contrary to Chopin's intention.

b. 74

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt II

Three-part notation in A (→GEFE)

Two-part notation in EE

..

The notation of EE is most probably a result of having misunderstood the notation of FE, in which the semiquaver beam of the middle voice was placed too high, which can make an impression that they create an incomprehensible whole together with the top beam.

Synchronization mark in FED

No mark in remaining sources

..

The line indicating the moment of playing the first grace note (together with the bass note) was added – most probably by Chopin – in FED.

b. 75

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt II

..

In A (→GE1FEEE) Chopin provided the half-bar demisemiquaver figure with the number 30. The mistake was noticed only in GE2.
