b. 70

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt III

 in GC

 in FE (→EE)

No sign in GE1

 in GE2mar (→GE2)

..

The  signs in GC and FE may be considered to be equal variants. Due to the reasons discussed in bar 16, in the main text we give the version of FE. The absence of the sign in GE1 is a clear mistake, inaccurately (arbitrarily) corrected in the subsequent GE.

In [A] (→GC,FE) Chopin overlooked the bass clef at the end of bars 70 and 78. The signs were added in GE and EE.

FE1 overlooked the middle notes of the chord in the R.H. on the 3rd beat of the bar. The mistake was corrected already in FE2. See also the next note.

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt III

c2-f2-c3 in GC (→GE) & FE5

In FE1 and subsequent impressions of FE of the entire Sonataf2 on the 4th beat of the bar was overlooked. The mistake remained without correction also in EE, in turn, it was corrected in FE5, probably on the basis of comparison with analogous bars 17, 25 and 79.

b. 71-72

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt III

No signs in GC (→GE) & FE

  in EE

..

In the main text we include the pair of dynamic hairpins, most probably written by Chopin in the base text to EE1. The fact that the sign in bar 72 has a clearly different form than in bars 18 and 26 proves the authenticity of these additions – the revisers would generally unify analogous places.
