b. 76-77

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt III

Slur in GC (→GE1)

Slur in FE3 (→FE4,FE5) & GE2mar (→GE2)

Slurs in EE

Our variant suggestion

..

The analysis of all four analogous places (bars 14-16, 22-24, 68-70 and 76-78) leads to a conclusion that the slur of GE1, based on an interpretation of the abbreviated notation of GC using the "copy and paste" method, is probably inaccurate. The two remaining versions, being certainly (FE3) or probably (EE) a result of proofreading entries of Chopin, can be, in turn, considered to be authentic. We base the main text on EE, whose concordance with Chopin's idea is, according to us, most likely. We give the slur present only in EE in a variant form (in brackets), as in this edition one cannot entirely exclude the reviser's intervention.
FE1 (→FE2) do not include slurs at all, which is a patent error.

b. 76

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt III

f in chord in GC (→GE), FE4, FES & FE5

No f in FE1 (→FE2FE3,EE)

..

In the chord on the 4th beat of the bar in FE1 (→FE2FE3,EEf was overlooked, the bottom note in the R.H. A respective correction was introduced in FE4 and FE5, as well as in FES.
FE4 and FES overlooked the dot extending the added f.

b. 78

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt III

End of slur in GC, literal reading

End of slur in GC (contextual interpretation→GE) & FE3 (→FE4,FE5) & EE

..

In GC, same as in bar 16 (bar 70 is only marked as its repetition), the end of the slur can be interpreted in two ways. In the main text we give a more likely, conventional interpretation of this detail, present in all editions – only in FE1 (→FE2) the slur in bars 77-78 was entirely overlooked.

b. 78

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt III

 in GC

 in FE (→EE)

 in GE1

 in GE2mar (→GE2)

..

The  signs in GC and FE may be considered to be equal variants. Due to the reasons discussed in bar 16, in the main text we give the version of FE. The sign in GE1 is clearly inaccurate, which was corrected (also inaccurately) in the subsequent GE.

b. 78

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt III

..

FE1 overlooked the  raising a to a. The mistake was corrected already in FE2.
