b. 77

composition: Op. 64 No 1, Waltz in D♭ major

No marking in AI & FE (→GE,EE)

in A

..

The missing  is most probably an oversight of the engraver of FE (→GE,EE). The sign is also absent in the previous autographs, written in the dal Segno convention.

b. 77

composition: Op. 64 No 1, Waltz in D♭ major

No marking in A!

 in A (→FEGE,EE)

..

The  sign was added by Chopin, while preparing the Waltz for publication – it is absent in the previous autographs, out of which only AI includes this bar in a written out form (cf. also the general note on performance indications in these autographs).

d & in As, contextual interpretation

d & A in AI

D & f in A (→FEGE,EE)

In the part of the L.H. in As only the first two crotchets in bar 77 are written out. It most probably means that the remaining four are to be completed after bars 5-6 (according to the numbering of the final version). In the presentation autographs one can see Chopin's hesitation, as far as the first crotchet in each of these bars is concerned; the version of AI is the most distant from the final version.

b. 80

composition: Op. 64 No 1, Waltz in D♭ major

..

In AI, in which bar 80 is the last one written out with notes, the literally interpreted slur does not suggest a link with the following sequence (repetition of bar 9). However, the continuous slur in bars 1-10 makes us consider it to be an inaccuracy of notation. A similar situation is present at the end of AII – cf. bars 69-76.
