Publisher: | Fr. Kistner |
Date: | 1865 |
Title: | Douze Grandes Etudes || No. 4 |
Dedication: | SON AMI F. LISZT |
In the fourth German edition, next to the until then published form of a book with six pieces, particular Etudes were also published as single works, as a result of which each of them received an additional plate number between 2961 and 2972 and the second independent pagination. GE4 includes a number of revisions, e.g., the errors enumerated in the characteristics of GE3 were corrected, the unnecessary accidentals in bars 26 and 40-41 were removed, a returning e1 in bar 47 was added, as well as a number of cautionary signs, e.g., a before a1 in bar 45 and a before d1 in bar 47, the fingering indications in bars 33 and 37 were reduced and homogenised, the octaves marked with 8 were written in notes in bars 71 and 81-82. However, there are also mistakes, e.g., the slur in the L.H. in bar 69 was overlooked.
The pencilled annotations visible in the presented copy are of no source value.
