GE2 - Second German edition
Publisher: | Fr. Kistner |
Date: | 1841⇒ |
Title: | Douze Grandes Etudes || No. 4 |
Dedication: | SON AMI F. LISZT |
Second German edition in which the text of GE1 was subject to a quite detailed revision:
- the necessary accidentals were added, e.g., of c2 in bar 50, the superfluous were also removed, e.g., of c3 in bar 74;
- a number of cautionary marks was added – e.g., before b2 in bars 11 and 61;
- dynamic hairpins or accents were moved, their size was also changed, e.g., in bars 39, 53;
- slurring was changed, e.g., a slur was added in the L.H. in bar 5, while the one in bars 69-70 was shortened.
GE2 is not free from common mistakes, such as an oversight of the fingering numeral in the L.H. in bar 43.
