Title: | Quatre Mazurkas || No 1. | Mazurka |
Dedication: | Monsieur le Comte de Perthuis |
Copy of the earliest impression of FE1 from the collection of Chopin's works belonging to Jane Stirling. Chopin's annotations were probably made between 1843 and 1848, when Miss Stirling was the composer's pupil. The copy contains fingerings added in pencil by Chopin (e.g. bars. 4-5, 17, 62), variants in bars 57 and 59, supplemented slurs (e.g. in bars 40-41) and other (bars 9-12 and 23-26). Some of Chopin's fingering numerals were later traced in ink by Miss Stirling to make them more legible and durable.
