Title: | Quatre Mazurkas || No 1. | Mazurka |
Dedication: | Monsieur le Comte de Perthuis |
A copy of the earliest impression of FE1 from a collection of Chopin's works belonging to his pupil, Camille O'Méara-Dubois. Chopin's annotations were probably made in the years 1846-1848, since the copy was bought not earlier than 1846 (the cover bears a stamp of Brandus et Cie that was established in January 1846), and Miss O'Méara was Chopin's pupil until 1848. FED contains fingerings written by the composer in pencil (e.g. in bars 17, 20, 24-25) and a variant in bar 59. Most fingering numerals were entered twice - the composer's writing, often faint, was later "traced" by his pupil to make it easier to read.
