The earliest impression of FE, based directly on A. FE1 presumably comprised just few copies intended only to register the publication and to proofread it. This is indicated by the lack of title page and numerous mistakes. Among the most significant flaws are:
- omissions of notes, e.g. in bar 90, 106, 145;
- mistaken pitches, e.g. in bars 14, 16, 50;
- numerous omissions of accidentals, e.g., in bars 68, 71 ,75;
- inaccuracies in the slurring, e.g. an omitted slur in bar 69.
On few occasions FE1 includes supplements or changes which seem to correct inaccuracies of A. This suggests a kind of limited revision:
- added L.H. slurs in bar 55 and 57 as well as 197-201;
- an added
sign in bar 151; - a shortened slur in bar 156.
