FE2 - Corrected impression of FE1

Publisher: Maurice Schlesinger
Date: VI 1833
Title: Etudes || No. 6
Dedication: son Ami J. Liszt

Second impression of FE1, probably performed shortly after the first. In this Etude the text of FE2 does not differ from FE1.

There are copies differing in the cover details: in the majority of them the error in the initial "J. Liszt" was corrected to "F. Liszt", and after Oct. 1837 the indication "Ier. Livre" (1st book) was added to differentiate it from the just edited Etudes, Op. 25. The copy presented in our system, with handwritten dedication of Chopin to Napoleon Orda, belongs to the earliest ones, as its cover still includes the described error. An example of a copy with corrected cover is FES.

FE3

In Dec. 1842, after purchasing the rights to the Etudes by the publishing house of Henry Lemoine, FE2 was provided with a new cover, while the plate number was changed to 2775. HL. No changes were made to the score, printed from Schlesinger's original plates. mUltimate Chopin presents two examples of FE3 in form of pupil's copies: FED and FEJ
