The sustained octave in CLI is certainly the original version of the bass line.

No indication in CLI

In the sources the range of cresc. was not specified, yet it is not that obvious. In Chopin's notation, verbal dynamic indications are to a certain extent independent from the hairpins, therefore, it is possible that cresc. is supposed to reach even the beginning of bar 76, in which dim. appears.

Long accents (interpretation of the sources)

..

Five consecutive  signs visible in FE (→GE) and EE3 (→EE4) can denote only long accents in this context. However, their significant size is not typical for Chopin long accents, yet they are to be found in autographs. It is very likely that the placement and size of the accents were distorted by the engraver, who, interpreting them as diminuendo, could subject them to a routine revision (cf., e.g., the Etude in A minor, No. 2, bars 8 and 12). In EE2 the signs were omitted, similarly as all other dynamic signs on this page.

b. 70-75

composition: Op. 10 No 1, Etude in C major

..

In the sources there is a number of discrepancies in the notation of accidentals. They result from unnamed and changing over the time rules concerning the accidentals' validity and they do not influence the interpretation of the text. The layout of the accidentals adopted in the main text is present in GE4 (→GE5).

d1 in CLI

The d1 note in CLI, constituting an unjustified irregularity of the figuration in terms of sound, is almost certainly the copyist's error.
