Slurs & ten. in EF

Slur in PE

Slurs suggested by the editors

..

The ascending motif is provided with slurs only in EF (in the parts of both hands). The ten. indication over the G-g crotchet is an addition to the slurring (cf. the note concerning bar 32). The slurs visible in PE in bars 32-33 suggest that lack of analogous slurring of the motif in bar 34 may have been unintentional from Chopin's point of view. Therefore, in the main text we propose a slur over the group of demisemiquavers, analogous to the slurs from the previous bars. We do not propose a separate slur for the L.H. due to the fact that the next slur in bars 34-35 is written only over the R.H. (although it undoubtedly applies to both parts led in octaves).

dim. &  in PE

..

The authenticity of the dynamic indications of PE in this bar (dim., and ) is revealed by the insertion of the dim. indication inside the  hairpins, so characteristic of Chopin. The authenticity of the  sign in EF, defining a contrary concept, seems to be highly dubious in this case. See also the note in bar 34.
