b. 32

composition: WN 17, Polonaise in B♭ major

No indications in JC

ben marcato in PE

..

In JC there is no performance indication, which suggests that  visible in EF is probably an addition by Fontana. For the main text we adopt the indication ben marcato from PE.

b. 32

composition: WN 17, Polonaise in B♭ major

..

In JC and GEF, the chord in the R.H. at the beginning of the bar is a crotchet. Without any doubt, it is an error (omission of a quaver flag). In bar 32(r) – repetition of bar 32 in Da Capo written out in notes – the described error does not appear in GEF.

..

Five  signs in those bars are present only in PE. We recreate them in the main text, yet we slightly change their position, as without any doubt, their range must remain in a legible relation to the ascending demisemiquaver motifs.

b. 32-33

No slurs in JC

Slurs in PE

..

The demisemiquaver motifs are embraced by slurs both in EF and in PE (in JC there are no slurs). While in EF each slur embraces the entire motif (five notes), the slurs in PE are shorter and they embrace only demisemiquavers. For the main text we adopt the notation of PE, the base source.
