b. 35

The indication legatissimo, featured only in PE, may look odd in this place. In this context, the slur over the R.H. also applies to the L.H., therefore, there was no need to add a separate indication. The "harmonic legato" – holding the harmony's (the chord's) components with fingers – may have had a possible application here, but we would expect a suggestion of its use to be introduced slightly earlier (an example performance in the part of the R.H.: ). One could also consider a possibility of a misread Chopin's indication in [A] by the engraver, however, even this hypothesis does not lead to unequivocal conclusions. Due to this fact, we leave the interpretation of this hint to the performers.
