Pedalling
b. 267-270
|
composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor
..
The pedalling of EE and GC (→GE) is definitely authentic. The pedalling of FE does not raise much doubt either, apart from the placement of the mark in bar 267, which seems inaccurate (see the note to bar 259). We include the two versions of pedalling, both of them probably authentic, as variants. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE |

b. 271
|
composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor
..
The mark is only present in FE. Both versions of the pedalling are authentic and, in our opinion, equally valid, so we offer the variant solution in the main text. category imprint: Differences between sources |

The asterisk was omitted in EE, probably by oversight. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE inaccuracies |

b. 303

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

The asterisk is placed differently in different sources. We take the version of EE as it is consistent with the notation of most analogous places and blends naturally with the notation of the rhythm. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE |

Both pedalling versions are undoubtedly authentic and here is why we suggest a variant. category imprint: Differences between sources |
