b. 360-364

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

No marks in EE

Accents in GC (→GE) & FE

..

A poorer version of EE - without accents in bars 360, 362 and 364 - seems original.

b. 367

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

No indication in EE & FE

tempo primo in GC

tempo Io in GE

Our suggestion

..

tempo primo marking visible in GC was not put down by Chopin, however there is no doubt about its authenticity. In GE  it was replaced with a conventional marking used in such situations and in the main text we adopt a similar solution.

b. 368

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

Short accent in EE

Long accent in GC (→GE) & FE

..

Short accent in EE is most probably inaccurate notation - both GC and FE, however based on different manuscripts, show long accents here.

b. 370-372

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

Accent in EE

Short accents in GC

Double short accents in FE

Long accents in GE

..

In the main text we present the GC undisputable notation. No accent in b. 372 is an obvious omission in EE, and long accents in GE result form not thorough enough analysis of the GC notation (the difference in accents lenghth in bars 360-368 and 370-374 was overlooked). Double accents in FE may have come form a reviser.

b. 371-387

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

..

In bars 371 and 387 we add cautionary sharps before  f-f and f1-f2 octaves - annotations already in EE and GE.
