AG - Autograph Gavard

Date: 1841-1842 (?)
Title: Valse
Dedication: Elise Gavard

Autograph with dedication: a Mlle Elise Gavard, written in the top right-hand side corner of the leaf. Under the last stave, on the right-hand side, there is the composer's signature: Chopin. Moreover, there is an inscription written by a foreign hand in pencil over the top stave: Valse en fa min.

A relatively high number of corrections indicates that the composer intended to write a thought-out version of the piece and not only to offer a neat, incidental manuscript. The solutions applied therein differ from the remaining autographs in as many as 21 places. It contains the greatest number of performance indications (e.g. dynamic hairpins, absent in other autographs - except for one such a place in AE). In addition, bars 22-30 were marked with letters, which were then used to write the repetition of this fragment in bars 38-46 in an abbreviated manner.
