AO - Autograph Oury

Date: 10 XII 1842
Title: (Valse)
Dedication: Madame Oury

Autograph developed on paper - a single sheet - with 12 staves, all corners slightly cut. The bar lines in the last bar are followed with the composer's signature: Fch. A remark on the right-hand side of the 12th stave and below on the bottom margin: a Madame Oury Paris 10 Decembre 1842. F. Chopin. On the bottom of the autograph, an attached slip with the following text: Presented to my by Mr. Collard June 1895. Originally, the whole (the autograph and the remark on the slip) was glued to one sheet of paper provided with the note: "from A. Headley's collection."

The manuscript was written carefully and neatly, no relevant crossings-out. At the very beginning, there is an abbreviation of the tempo marking: Allto (=Allegretto). The range of the phrase marks is indicated in a legible manner. The autograph combines the elements constituting the most stable part of the Waltz: in 43 out of 46 examined places, its version is confirmed by a version of another autograph. It is most similar to the autograph given to Marie de Krudner (AK), which is somehow confirmed by the time span between the dates of their dedications, which was merely two days.
