b. 230

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

g3 tied in A (→GEFE,IE)

g3 repeated in EE

..

The overlooked tie to g3 is one of a few mistakes by EE in this bar.

b. 294

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

..

In A the third in the bottom voice is a semibreve, which is a mistake. It was corrected in GE (→FE,EE,IE). Four bars later, all sources contain the correct version. Similarly, in bar 306.

b. 294-298

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

Crotchet A in A (→GEFE,EE1,IE)

No A in EE2

..

The version of the last crotchet in bar 294 and 298 was introduced into EE2 probably by analogy with bar 306 and 310, in which a respective note (a) was omitted already in GE (→FE,EE,IE).

b. 296-308

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

..

In A the f note at the beginning of bar 296 seems to be a semibreve, since it does not have a stem. The same applies to the f1 note in bar 308. In both cases we are dealing with inaccuracies, which is proven by the ties to these notes (they are supposed to be held to the 2nd half of the bar). Therefore, in both bars we consider the version with a minim to be the A text; it was already introduced by GE (→FE,EE,IE).

Tie to f in A

Slur a-g in GE (→FE,EE1,IE)

Slur & tie in EE2

..

The version of the majority of the editions resulted from a misinterpretation of the tie to f as a slur referring to the R.H. top voice. The authentic tie was added in EE2, most probably by analogy with bar 308.
