Its absence in GE (→FE,EE,IE) could be explained by an oversight by the engraver or by a revision due to incompliance with the markings in analogous bar 15. Taking into account this incompliance, according to us, the version of the editions may be considered an acceptable variant.

The shorter GE slur (→FE,EE,IE) could be an inaccuracy or a revision aimed at bringing this place into line with the authentic slurs in analogous bars 17-19. After all, the difference between the ways these places were written down in A suggests that Chopin considered them almost equivalent.
