The missing  must be an inaccuracy of notation, since corresponding marks –  or  – are in all 11 analogous places. On the basis of an analysis of those marks (see b. 6-7), in the main text we give an averaged, more or less one-bar  hairpin. According to us, all signs, regardless of their actual length, are to be interpreted as long accents.

In the entire section (to bar 644), GE3 arbitrarily changed the authentic crotchets, opening the bar, to quavers with rests. This completely unjustified arbitrary decision could have been influenced by the rhythm in the previous bar.

The missing accents in bars 626, 630 and 635 are most probably a result of oversights of the engraver of FE or of Chopin in [A]. In the main text, we add the missing accents like all the remaining editions.

No slurs in FE

In bar 630, 635, 638 and 640 in FE, there are no little slurs combining the grace notes with the quaver that ends the motif. A comparison with the remaining similar bars of this 24-bar section points to oversights of the engraver of FE or of Chopin himself. In the main text, we add the overlooked little slurs like it was performed in GE and EE.

Just like in b. 179-181, in the main text we add cautionary flats before the E1 and E grace notes in b. 630 and before the D1-D octave in b. 632. The accidentals in b. 630 were added already in GE, whereas those in b. 632 – in GE2 (→GE3).
