b. 373

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III

..

In GE and – probably on the basis thereof – in EE2 (→EE3), cautionary sharps were added before g1 and f1. The latter was added also in FEH. In the main text, we also add a  before a1.

Crotchet in FE (→GE1GE2)

Dotted crotchet in EE & GE3

Dotted crotchet suggested by the editors

..

In FE (→GE1GE2), the missing dot prolonging the c3 crotchet seems to be an inaccuracy of notation, since that note is naturally continued by b2 at the beginning of the next bar. There is no reason (also pianistic) to break the two-part notation. The dot was added already in EE and GE3. There is a similar situation in bar 377.

b. 373

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

..

In GE1 (→FE1,EE1) the last semiquaver is a2. The patent mistake – cf. analogous bar 271 – was corrected in FE2, probably at Chopin's request, and in GE2 (→GE3,FESB) and EE2 (→EE3).

b. 373

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

f2f1f in A

f2f1f in GE (→FE,EE,IE)

f2 (), f1f suggested by the editors

..

As in bar 7, in the 2nd half of the bar there are no accidentals in A, while the sharps raising all f notes (in different octaves) to f present in GE (→FE,EE,IE) were arbitrarily added while revising this edition. In the main text we provide the A version, adding only a cautionary  to the first of the discussed notes (f2).
