b. 234

composition: Op. 22, Polonaise

No marks in FE (→GE)

Staccato dots in EE

..

The missing dots in FE (→GE) are most probably a mistake of the engraver of FE – the marks are present in the three remaining analogous bars, b. 233 and 253-254 (another possibility – probably less likely – the corresponding marks could have been added at the time of proofreading of FE in b. 254).

b. 234

composition: Op. 44, Polonaise in F♯ minor

Quavers in GE

Dotted rhythm in FE (→EE)

..

Chopin added here dotted rhythm while proofreading FE1. The quavers in GE may be the initial version of this and previous, analogous bars (b. 171, 175 and 228), overlooked by Chopin at the time of performing corrections. Two quavers occurring in this passage in AImaz corroborate this hypothesis.

b. 234-236

composition: Op. 23, Ballade in G minor

Staccato dots in A

No marks in FE (→GE,EE)

..

The 6 missing staccato dots over the L.H. octaves must be a mistake by the engraver of FE (→GE,EE); he overlooked these marks in the entire line and resumed adding them only just in b. 237.

b. 234

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

Rhythm with semiquaver in A (→GE) & EE2

Rhythm with quaver in FE (→EE1)

..

As in analogous bar 154, the FE rhythm (→EE) conveys the initial version. In the main text we give the rhythm as corrected by Chopin in A (→GE), after [FC] (→FE) had been finished. In the discussed bar Chopin did not finish the correction – he overlooked the second pair of augmentation dots to the crotchet L.H. octave. This is – next to the graphic details of the autograph's notation described the first time – further proof that a change was being introduced into A.

ten. in A & GE2

No indication in FE (→EE) & GE1

..

The ten. indication was almost certainly added to A after [FC] had been finished (along with  and the accents), which explains its absence in FE (→EE). In GE1 it was overlooked (along with the slur – see the adjacent note), while in GE2 – added.
