FC - Fontana's copy

Date: (II-III) 1839
Title: Vingt-quatre Préludes
Dedication: Monsieur Camille Pleyel

Copy of A made by Julian Fontana (lost, known from a photocopy) as the basis for the first German edition. As a whole, the copyist duplicated the text of A carefully, nonetheless making a number of mistakes, e.g. he omitted   in bar 8,  in b. 23, a slur in b. 25-26, and first of all he erroneously read the top note of the lower R.H. voice in b. 19 as g1 instead of f1. (For a list of more important flaws of FC in the whole Op. 28 see Prelude in C no. 1.) Chopin did not correct FC.
In bars 12-14, the naturals lowering c2, c1c and C to c2, c1and C were added by the long-time owner of the manuscript, Hermann Scholtz (for his other additions see Prelude in C no. 1).
