GE1 is based on FC, Chopin took no part in its preparation. There are copies of GE1 which have differing covers, and the edition was also published in a version of 4 fascicules containing 6 preludes each.
In GE1 a number of revisions were introduced:
- overlooked accidentals were added – a
before f
1 in b. 12 and a 
before f and a before e in b. 75, - cautionary accidentals were added, e.g. naturals before f1(2) in b. 13.
In spite of revision, a few mistakes were committed, e.g.:
- a instead of b as the 5th quaver in b. 2, e instead of c
as the top note of the 1st crotchet in b. 30, - missing additional crotchet stem next to g in b. 19.
