b. 84-103

composition: Op. 50 No. 2, Mazurka in A♭ major

The version of EE, featuring a slur in b. 103 only, most probably corresponds to the notation of the proof copy of FE, in which the engraver overlooked the slurs over the non-written-out fragment in A1 (b. 84-102). In turn, the continuous slur over all that section present in the finished FE results from proofreading, most probably Chopinesque. In the main text we give two slurs: in b. 84-87 and 87-103, featured both in A1 (interpreted correctly) and GE, since the version of FE, although the latest, was not a change of the thought-out phrasing of A1 and [A2], but an ad hoc correction of a serious mistake. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in FE , Authentic corrections of FE |

Just like in b. 11 and 15, it is uncertain whether the mordents in b. 86 and 90 were added by Chopin already in [A2] or only just in the proofreading of GE. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations |
