In the main text we give the pedalling added by Chopin in the proofreading of FE (→EE). In accordance with the observations expressed in the note to b. 65-76 on combining the bars based on the same chord with one pedal, one can assume that it was a routine operation of the composer, just like in a few other places, and that he did not consider a longer hold of pedal, more natural in this context. It is difficult to say conclusively whether leaving the R.H. chord without staccato dot was intended by Chopin. The dot in the L.H. and the presence of a dot in analog. b. 249 are an argument in favour of Chopin having overlooked the marking. However, on the other hand, the crotchets in b. 119, 121, 123 and 125, which can be considered analogous, are devoid of dots, in spite of the fact that the corresponding bass notes are provided with dots. According to us, an inaccuracy is more likely in this case (cf. the previous note on slurs); therefore, in the main text we give a dot. In spite of the clear difference in the length of the accents in b. 118, 120, 122 and 124 visible in A, in the main text we give a unified notation with four short accents, which are more natural in these brilliant, virtuoso passages. At the same time, it is compliant with the notation of the principal source, i.e. FC, although it seems unlikely that Chopin could have interfered with the notation of the copy here.
