Slurs

b. 496

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

No slur in FE (→GE,EE)

Slur suggested by the editors

..

In the main text, we suggest adding a slur over the quavers that, in analogous place in the exposition, were encompassed with a slur along with the next bar in FE (→GE,EE).

b. 514

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

No slur & dots in FE (→GE,EE)

Slur & dots suggested by the editors

..

In the main text, we suggest adding a slur and dots after analogous bar 159. Missing performance indications could have been a result, unintended by Chopin, of a serious proofreading covering the beam and pitch of the 1st quaver (visible traces of changes in FE).

b. 514

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

No slur in FE (→GE)

Slur in EE

Same slur suggested by the editors

..

In the main text, we add a slur over the initial motif of the theme, which is not encompassed with a slur only in this place (cf. bar 25, 29, 155, 159 and 510). An identical slur was added in EE.

b. 516

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

Slur form 2nd note in FE (→EE,GE1GE2)

Slur form 1st note in GE3

..

An earlier beginning of the slur in GE3 could have seemed to be justified considering the lack of staccato dot.

b. 528-529

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

No slurs in FE

2 slurs in GE

Slur in EE

2 slurs in GE

..

In the main text, we add slurs after comparison with analogous bars 173-174 as well as 157-158 and 512-513. Slurs were added already in GE and EE; in GE, the authentic slur in bar 173 was included, which resulted in the solution suggested by us; in EE, the entire ending of the phrase was encompassed with one slur.
